Check Your Peace

This week, I had a moment where I almost allowed myself to be anxious and angry. I felt it stirring up in my gut, that bubbly anxiousness that will have you pacing the floor and wringing your hands. I was feeling completely beside myself, thinking how could this person talk to me this way and I wanted to respond from that place of anger, BUT GOD! I stop myself from responding in the moment. I credit the time I spend with the Father God (Abba Father) that has helped me to censor my emotions in a way that has allowed me to be less responsive and more reflective; that’s a subject for another blog.

I was reminded that no one or nothing is worth having my peace disturbed. And so I did what I do best I prayed, right then and there. I am glad I didn’t respond or react because I now know that would have cost me a valuable relationship. Yes, although the encounter at that moment was not a good one, I also know that others tend to operate from a place of unhealed emotions and it is oftentimes not even about me, so I shouldn’t take it personally. God’s Grace taught me that!

So while I was praying I was led to this scripture:

[Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV] (6) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; (7 ) and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

But it was the next set of scriptures that did it for me:

[Philippians 4:8 NKJV] 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things [are] noble, whatever things [are] just, whatever things [are] pure, whatever things [are] lovely, whatever things [are] of good report, if [there is] any virtue and if [there is] anything praiseworthy–meditate on these things.

Remember: If it does not bring you peace then it’s not of God! And if you find anxiousness knocking at your door, don’t answer and set your thoughts on the things of God that are:

  1. Pure

  2. Good

  3. True

  4. Honorable

  5. Right

  6. Just

  7. Lovely

  8. Admirable

  9. Noble

  10. Virtuous

  11. Praise Worthy

Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Check Your Peace at the door.

Gather yourself, Gather your thoughts.

[2Corinthians 10:4-6 NKJV] 4 For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

Don’t allow your thoughts to run rampant in your mind! Check every thought with the word of God. Unchecked thoughts turn into worry which goes against the peace of God.

Remember to Be BOLD, Be Unashamed, Be You, and Most Importantly, BE HEALED!!!!
