The Pain Behind The Smile. Depression is REAL!!!

What do you do when someone close to you suffers from depression or if you yourself may be suffering?

  1. Seek professional help

  2. Be a Friend

  3. Never be dismissive of the emotions that are being experienced and PLEASE don’t suggest or think “get over it”!!!!

Depression is a medical diagnosis that is silent but can be deadly for the individual experiencing it. More often than not both males and females of various ages suffer, but go undiagnosed. Some fear being ridiculed, judged and labeled as crazy.

I am here to tell you are none of the above.

How Do I know? I myself had suffered from clinical depression from the age of 7 years old until my mid 30’s.

Below are a few triggers for both women and men, that may cause depression:

  1. PMS, pregnancy (during or after birth), *women

  2. Toxic Relationships (professional & personal)

  3. Finances

  4. Parenting (when you feel inadequate or overwhelmed due to lack of support or financial stressors)

  5. Body image distortion

  6. Trauma and abuse

  7. Personal Image

Depression can lead to seclusion, severe deep sadness anger, resentment, low self-esteem, binge eating overeating, drugs/ alcohol, sexual promiscuity, and unfortunately suicide….just to name a few.

I can tell you personally I have laid in my room for days at a time crying, wishing I could talk to someone, and even wondering if anyone cared enough to understand what I was going thru. The reality is I could not find the words to explain why or how I had gotten to that point yet again, I told myself. So often times I suffered in silence.

I’m speaking out, being the voice for all those lying in their beds crying, wishing they were dead.

NO……don’t do IT. You have a purpose, but first seek help, you are NOT crazy…YOU ARE AMAZING!!! I am praying for you and you are NOT alone.

I also want to encourage you in the word of God: [Matthew 11:28 NLT] 28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.

And remember if no one told you they love you...I LOVE YOU !!! and most IMPORTANTLY GOD LOVES YOU!
